1.2. Relevant identified uses of the substance or mixture and uses advised against

This subsection must describe the intended uses of the substance or mixture relevant for the recipient(s). The description should be brief but complete and explain what the substance or mixture is intended to do.

Each hazardous substance supplied to you must have its intended and restricted uses - as far as is known - provided in subsection 1.2.

When you initially receive the product and its safety data sheet you should check to ensure that your intended use of it matches those provided in this subsection or the exposure scenarios provided in an extended safety data sheet.

If you do not find your intended use listed in this subsection or the exposure scenarios of an extended SDS, then you should either:

Uses Advised Against

Where applicable, specify uses that the supplier advises against and reasons why. This list does not need to be exhaustive.

Examples of Uses Advised Against:

  • "Do not use in food contact applications"
  • "Not for use in medical devices"
  • "Not suitable for consumer/DIY applications"
  • "Not to be used in spray applications without proper ventilation"
